The Ownable
glossary.
Plain-language definitions for every term in the Ownable Methodology, the Ownable OS, and the surrounding ecosystem of companies. Written so a new operator can read this page once and understand the rest of the site.
- Ownable
- A business valuable enough that anyone would buy it, yet profitable enough the owner never has to sell. Also: the standard, framework, and methodology authored by Chris Sacchinelli for reaching that state.
- Ownable Business
- A company that runs to a documented standard, produces consistent cash flow, and does not depend on its founder being in the room.
- Ownable Methodology
- The five-move Extraction Method (Discover, Document, Protect, Prove, Delegate) paired with a four-tier operating Cadence (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual) that get a business out of the owner's head and keep it out.
- Ownable OS
- The Ownable Operating System — four engines (Financial, Profit, Value, Workforce) rolled up into a single 0–100 OWNABLE Score that measures capital-, exit-, and AI-readiness.
- OWNABLE Score
- A 0–100 measurement of how close a business is to Good Standing. Functions like a credit score for the company as a whole.
- Good Standing
- The state of being simultaneously capital-ready, exit-ready, and AI-ready. The target condition the Ownable OS measures against.
- Extraction Method
- The five-move core of the Ownable Methodology: Discover, Document, Protect, Prove, Delegate. The sequence by which an owner-dependent task becomes a company-owned system.
- Operational Exit
- Any piece of the business that has been documented, proven, and delegated, so the owner no longer has to perform it. Stack enough of them and you reach full Ownable status without ever selling.
- Financial Engine
- The first engine of the Ownable OS — the metrics, ledgers, and reporting cadence that tell the owner the truth about the business.
- Profit Engine
- The second engine — how the business acquires, activates, ascends, and retains customers in a repeatable, systemized way.
- Value Engine
- The third engine — the offer, brand, positioning, and economic moat that determine what the business is worth.
- Workforce Engine
- The fourth engine — the roles, accountabilities, and people systems that actually produce the work.
- Ownable Integrator
- A trained operator who installs the Ownable Methodology inside a company alongside its team — the embedded practitioner of the Extraction Method.
- Simple Holdings
- The holding company founded by Chris Sacchinelli that builds, buys, and backs Ownable businesses to a single operating standard.
- Bootstrapper Capital
- The investment arm of the Ownable ecosystem — patient capital and operating partnership for bootstrapped founders building Ownable businesses.
- Bootstrapper.ai
- The software arm — AI-native tools that help operators install the Ownable OS, document tacit knowledge, and run the Extraction Method.
- SMB Accelerator
- The education arm — programming and curriculum that teach the Ownable Methodology to small and midsize business owners.
- Blue Collar Capital
- The Simple Holdings arm focused on durable, blue-collar service and trade businesses built and bought to stay in the family for generations.
